Go from “Oh $#@!” to“I’ve got this!”

in just 30 minutes.

Two queer people talk in a bookstore in front of a shelf of books. One on the right has a shaved head that's died yellow and a fun lime green shirt on. The other on the right is wearing a floral pattern jacket with a book in her hand. Both are talking to each other.

Life can feel like a rollercoaster.

One day you’re riding the high of a professional accomplishment, the next you’re crashing down from a personal failure.

Add in global pandemics, political upheaval, and a constant barrage of information from social media and the news, it’s no wonder we’re all overwhelmed and exhausted.

You need an affordable and accessible tool to deal with the ups and downs of life.

You need journaling.

In just half an hour, I can go from feeling worthless to feeling like I can take on the world. Lauren provides me with the tools to love my flawed body and to thrive within it. She inspires me to be better to myself at a time in my life when I rarely feel like I deserve it. Lauren is blazing the path towards radical self-love and I’m behind her 100%!

Go from “Oh $#@!” to “I’ve Got This!”

Learn a skill you’ll use your whole life to get you through the ups and downs.

I had been writing in a journal for a long time, but the practice had become unproductive for me. In Lauren’s Journal Through It course, I learned deeper and more generative ways of writing for insight.

Not only were the modules paced in a way that facilitated learning, Lauren’s warm presence made the already great content so much more meaningful. Her care for each student comes through so clearly.

She helped me expand my thinking about what “counts” as journaling. Lauren is a skilled listener, but didn’t hesitate to be direct in providing structure and boundaries when I needed them. As a result, I enjoy my journaling so much more than I did before.

I highly recommend taking this course! It will deepen your journaling practice and you will benefit from knowing Lauren.

[Journal Through It] taught me that journalling is almost as good as therapy. On the occasions when I haven’t been able to access my mental health professionals, I’ve been able to turn to my notebook and write it all out.

The course material is fantastic … and I’m finding my way easily around the course website.

Meet Your Instructor

Hi, I’m Lauren! And I know what it’s like to feel overwhelmed.

As a queer, fat, neurodiverse teenager and young adult, journaling was often the only way I could express my deep thoughts and feelings.

Whenever life got hard – family members with cancer, political upheavals, law school, breakups, coming out – I turned to my journal to process.

After my brother died, I developed a set of journaling tools and practices that have changed my life and kept me sane during the best and worst of times.

When things got better, I found that journaling wasn’t just for the hard times, it was for all times.

Journaling is the one tool that’s helped me build a business, grow my craft as a writer, and level up in every aspect of my life.

Lauren sits in a chair with her legs crossed, a book open on her lap. She is wearing a white shirt and black pants, and big blue glasses. There are books in the background and a piano in the foreground

I’m excited to teach you the journaling tips and tools that have changed my life.

Lauren challenged and inspired me to begin journaling every day. This became a sacred daily ritual that has guided me through a deeply transformative year. I would not be who I am today without this potent practice and the depth of learning it brings. Thanks, Lauren!

Questions and Important Details

Is this workshop for me? What if I’m not *really* a writer?

We don’t gate keep writing around these parts. If you write at all, then you’re a writer. PERIOD.

So if you’ve been called to journal more and/or if you long to find an easy and accessible way to process your feelings, then this workshop is for you.

How long is the course? How much time will the whole program take?

The whole workshop is two hours long and will include time to practice journaling styles within it.

The systems and techniques you will learn in the program take about half an hour each to implement going forward, and you can use them as little or as much as you want, depending on your journaling needs.

What is the format of the course?

The whole course is hosted on Thinkific, an easy-to-use platform that my students love. You’ll have 3 modules, plus bonus material. The material consists of videos, mp3’s, writing exercises, and text to read. It’s all fun and provides for various learning styles.

We have automatic captions for some of our course material, but not all of it. We are actively working on getting all of our material transcribed to be more accessible.

How long do I have access to the program material? Why do you limit access after a certain time?

Our goal first and foremost is to help you make space in your life for artistic creativity. We don’t want you to sit on this program material and never use it.

Deadlines get people to take action and so we’ve implemented the 30-day limit to help make sure you actually take the program and do the work.

If you want extended access to the material, join my Write Your Friggin’ Book Already™ program where you’ll get access to this workshop and many others for the life of your membership.

Do you offer refunds?

Because you get instant access to the course material and the workshop link, and because we want you to show up and be held accountable to making time for creativity in your life, we do not offer refunds of any kind.

Will you be my therapist? Does this replace therapy?

I am not a trained therapist, so I can’t provide emotional counseling. I can, however, show you the journaling techniques that have worked for me and the hundreds of people I’ve taught online and in-person during my workshops, classes, and retreats. This course is a perfect supplement for therapy but is no substitute for professional help.

If you are in crisis and need of immediate help, please contact the Suicide Prevention Lifeline online or at 1-800-273-8255.

Do you offer scholarships?

While this current price is a GREAT deal for this high-end workshop, we’ve been broke artists before and understand that many creatives lack access to resources, especially those who come from historically marginalized and systemically oppressed communities.

Which is why we offer 10% of spots in all our programs to people from underserved and underresourced communities who would otherwise not be able to afford it.

On top of that 10% of spots saved for people who would otherwise not be able to afford the program, this workshop is always free to refugees, people seeking asylum, people experiencing homelessness, anyone on permanent disability, or members of any indigienous tribe, including the Kumeyaay, who are the original inhabitants of the stolen land on which School for Writers operates.

While we offer scholarships of free and reduced pricing, we ask that you still pay for your course by passing on a skill you have to others. Share information with your community on social media, teach your skills by writing your book, help a friend in need, pay it forward.

Our scholarships are on an honor system, which means if you say you need one we believe you.  If you need a scholarship, you can enter code “journalingforeveryone” to get the program in exchange for paying it forward to someone else in need when you can.

What’s your success rate?

Lauren has a 95% success rate with her coaching clients and an 85% success rate in her programs. Which means this stuff works!
